Second Iteration Tapes is a new record label launching this month with celebrations taking place at Four4Nine! The label focuses on experimental and electronic music specifically used within interdisciplinary works. With the launch, the label is also putting out the first release; an audiovisual VHS which was first featured in a dance work entitled conduit. The gig will feature the analogue synth stylings of Lana, operating predominantly within the realm of electronica, she improvises over loose song structures, with stylistic forays into both dance music and minimalism. Josten Myburgh, Perth based composer and improviser will be presenting a new electronic work detailing strange and very close listening. A special act is still to be announced with the night finishing up with a viewing of conduit; an experimental short film, Second Iteration’s first release.
conduit; is an experimental short film which was initially used as a live projection accompanying a choreographic work of the same name in 2016. The work details the concepts of separation of body and mind and the juxtaposition of being confined to your own thought and body. The images collate a surreal montage in which the static energy and vast array of images result in an obscured reality further perplexed through electronic glitching of the film.
Second Iteration Tapes is a Perth based label focusing on experimental music used in collaboration with interdisciplinary works. The label gives opportunity for music that would otherwise remain on a hard drive the opportunity to be reiterated into limited alternative releases both digitally and on unconventional and outdated formats. Performances from Lana and Josten Myburgh.
