Hey Jack! We are so excited to see Psychedelic Porn Crumpets on July 30 at the Rosemount Hotel! Have you got your outfits planned?
We’re all too poor to afford our desired looks, so we usually just go through the State Theatre's lost property and see what the thespians have left behind. You can sometimes find a leotard or two, a coulored one if you’re lucky, frill necks, tin man costume...There was rumour that someone found an original Can-Can burlesque get up from 1983, I’d definitely rep that.
What is your favourite song in your set?
At the moment I love playing ‘Nek’, one of our new tunes off of the next album. It sounds like swing jazz on a pirate ship with Michael Bay in command, everything about it seems unnecessarily explosive in a Jekyll & Hyde kind of way, it just gets bigger until your neck can’t move that quick anymore.
Do you have any rituals before special shows like this one?
The standard 3 pints before every show has become a Crumpet ritual. Some sushi or a pizza sub. During the day I watch live performances of various pumpy bands to psych myself up, some Joe Rogan Experience to remember the universe is ridiculous and life is stupidly perplexing so don’t get thumbed down and do what you want.
Are you best friends in real life?
What’s real life? What you see with us is pretty much it. There’s no deceptive facade or image we’re trying to portray, I love these guys like brothers and love creating music with them. Wee’re definitely all besties :’)
The lineup for your Rosemount show is DOPPPE: Spaceman, FUZZ TOADS, Marlinspike and Marmalade Mama are super hot right now! What other new acts in WA are on your radar?
I saw Crystal Moth the other day, they were really cool. Moist Oyster are pretty fraaaash. The Drools are doing some clever things, POW! Negro blew me away when I saw them. The Kramers, The Limbs, Human Bouy.
What’s up next for PPC?
High Visceral Part Two! It’s all in motion now, I’m planning it all out and getting the stems down for Danny to get bashing away on drums for August. We should hopefully have some singles out for the end of the year. I’m really looking forward to this one, the quality of production has increased, songs are better, bands tighter, it should be big!
